I walk the landscape through trees
scarred from coolamons long gone.
I pass the middens silenced
by the waves of colonisation.
I hunt for kelp, after an angry ocean,
timing the tides and searching the rocks.
I see clans of beaked mussels and hitch-hiking barnacles with memories of harvest, of fires and feast.
I am intertidal, listening to the whispers of country.
